I just realized it's Friday the 13th - I don't think I'll focus on that too much.

Yesterday was a tough day for me so I just couldn't face doing an update last night. The doctors are becoming very concerned and discouraged by Emily's not waking up for following instructions. Today she will be taken off all sedation and they may try a new medication to help her wake up. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Project Hair was successfully completed. It took all day, but we got it brushed out, washed, conditioned and combed. She had the only room in the ICU that smelled like an Aveda day spa. Hannah braided it last night to keep it from getting tangled, and my friend Alan is coming today to put in a professional french braid to try to protect it. Just another example of the many incredible kindnesses that everyone has shown us.

I know that many of you would like to visit Emily. Unfortunately, the ICU just isn't very conducive to visitors. As soon as she's in a room outside of the ICU I promise to post a note that one and all are welcome.

Dear Boldt Family,
This is the first time I have been able to sit and write a comment. I have been following Emily's progress since you first gave DSA the site address, and I really appreciated Mrs.Bolt speaking with the teachers last Friday. My thoughts and prayers are with Emily and your whole family. I taught Emily biology last year, and I haven't seen her much this year, but I remember her wonderful smile and energy. Class was always better when she was there! I have posted the blog address in my classroom and have been talking with students about her almost everyday. I also put Emily on the prayer list at my church. I figure the more prayer, the better! I hope the lack of sedation goes well today. I'm praying and thinking of Emily often.
Sincerely,
Wendy Masters

You are all in my thoughts and prayers every day. I am so sorry to hear of yesterday's less than encouraging news. Knowing that days like that are going to happen takes nothing away from how hard they are to live through let alone report.

I do want to give you what I hope is a smile; some people might not see much significant difference between a blog update posted at 2:10 am and one posted at 4:42 am. Only those that know and love you would realize one was up in the middle of the night and the other is at the start of your day!

Thank you for filling us all in via Emily's Blog. I know you don't want to give us less than the best news, but we do appreciate it. luvu

We hope between the medication to help stimulate Emily's wakefullness and her will to do it on her own, progress will be quick! Maybe some good responses happened today because it IS Friday the 13th? Grant was born on a Friday the 13th, and we see it as a lucky day in our home :-) Hang in there and we appreciate your updates very much!! Much love-
